It appears blank, but it is actually the log in screen. On the Icon, you need to plug in an
external keyboard. On the Braille Plus, you can use the braille keyboard. To log in, type root,
and then press enter. It will say password, but there isn't one so just press enter again.

Yes, speakup starts audomaticly. To learn more about speakup, go to:
http://www.linux-speakup.org/
and join the speakup mailinglist, by sending a blank email to:
speakup-request at braille.uwo.ca
and put the word subscribe in the subject line.
