I'm failing to connect to the ticket system, so I'm posting this now, as
I will soon be offline while returning home to the U.S. ...
I've only spent a little time with the new clock interface on beta 1.2
build 61. Seeing the International Date Line as the default time was a
shock!
The time setting for London, Dublin (etc) is incorrect. These cities are
not GMT. They are BST, and currently are BSST (British Standard Summer
Time) until this coming Sunday, 26 October. So, it's actually GMT/GMT+1.
I haven't checked for other errors--but that one jumped out at me.
I would really like to still see the TZ identifiers, even if they're
added onto the city list, e.g. CET (where I am now); EST/EDT (where I
will be late tomorrow), JST (where I was last June).
One more request, since this seems in active development ... Why not run
an automatic time sync whenever wifi is started? I realize this can get
a little tricky, meaning that a route to the net isn't necessarily
available when the connection is first made. Typically, a hotel, such as
where I am now, will require me to start my browser and authenticate--so
my suggestion is that a sync be scheduled every 60 seconds or so until
it succeeds whenever wifi launches. One less thing to do by hand would
be helpful.
And, once we get GPS, it can even set the TZ corectly that way!
