I access it using ssh and scp over the network and by sharing it.  There is no real problem with sharing it.  You can have programs on the harddrive you just would put the path to the application and it will work no different than on the flash.

Hi, That is a good idea as this way other users who wish to develope
applications could look at each others sources code and if not totally use
it at least look at it.  Does anyone know how to access the flash disk in
windows or linux other then sharing folders on it or can programs be
installed to the hard drive?  Sharing folders on the flash disk might not be
the best option and if there is a better way it would be nice if others
could help us all out.
