Hi, For now if we want to build packages for the icon or braille plus what python packages will we need? Most linux distributions like debian and others include python but I am not sure about the packaging tools. Again I think it would be nice if the development tools could be included as part of the device and not as a add on as this might encourage more people to develope applications if the tools were already there for them to use.

Here is some information for those interested in developing for the
    Icon/Braille +.

First off we have Developer and application that allows python apps to be
written right on the unit. It has some cool features like creating
skeleton projects, running apps, debug logs, a simple editor, package
builder and more. I'm not sure if this will be part of the build or a
downloadable package, but this should be ready soon. The more interest in
it, the more we will put work into it.

Development documentation is rather limited right now, but if more people
start to develop for it, we will spend more time on the docs and getting
    people up to speed.

Right now developer only has one sample app being Hangman, but there are
plans to add more. There are also a few projects on the website that have
source code, such as Sudoku, but I'll have to find the links for them and
they may not even run any more.

This mailing list is the main place to go for anyone interested in
developing for the Icon/Braille +. There are several developers that read
the list and we will help as time allows.

C/C++ development is possible, but it is quite a bit trickier and while we
have discussed how to allow users to build for the platform, we haven't
    worked out the details.

    Mike
